Hi Everyone, Happy Thursday !!
It’s time again for Rita Kay’s Tip of the Week; todays tip will be a helpful tip for keeping the deer away from your garden.
I must admit that this tip works fairly well, and it’s quick and easy.
All you need to do for this tip is put moth ball, (yes you read right moth balls) around your garden and the deer won’t come near. I put the moth balls in a nylon and tied it to a small hook I had, next I stuck it in the ground near the garden.
I was told that if you sprinkle the moth balls on the ground they work better than putting them in the nylon. The problem is that I couldn’t stand the smell of the moth balls so I no longer have them in my yard. But if you don’t mind the smell of them, they do help (a little bit) with keeping the deer away. I’ve tried all the sprays that you can buy; Wally has even hung soap on the trees. I’ve even done the garlic trick, but those nasty deer just keep coming back to eat my plants. The only other way I’ve found to keep the deer out of my garden is a tall fence.
I wish there was a quick solution for the deer problem. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Oh … I forgot to mention I’ve planted Marigolds; I was told that Marigolds would keep the deer away because of their smell. BUT the bunnies came and ate the tops off. I think the deer were paying the bunnies to get rid of the flowers.
Notice the photo below, Mr. Bunny got inside my fence to eat the Marigolds. Now I know Mr. Bunny and the deer are in cahoots.
